A recent study revealed that 3 out of 5 young people leave the church between the ages of 18 and 29. The study also discovered that the pattern can be traced back to youth who are as young as 15. At LBC, we intend, through God’s Word and the building of relationships, to change that (Colossians 2:2-10).
The “Teens” Ministry exists to develop and equip the youth for Christ. We believe the Teens should be firmly founded in the truth and love of our Savior in order to have boldness in a world filled with views opposing what the Bible teaches (Ephesians 6:10-24, Romans 1:16-17). In addition to that, they must be equipped to confidently fulfill the Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20). This will be accomplished through studying, understanding the relevance and applying the Scriptures to their everyday lives (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Following Christ in a personal relationship, not a set of laws, and we desire to foster that in order for teenagers to see the importance of Christ and His Church.
Every Friday night, we begin with a Bible study and follow with dessert and a free time consisting of various games and activities.
Fun is important too (Ecclesiastes 2:24-25)! Throughout the year, the Teens engage in many activities including major and monthly events. Major events consist of four activities per year, such as trips to Six Flags of New England, snow tubing, etc. Monthly events include activities that are cheaper yet still a time for the Teens to grow and fellowship with each other such as bowling, laser tag, “trampolining”, etc.
